Greetings to all!
I hope this message finds everyone safe and healthy as we head into fall. The cooler temperatures and the soon to be changing leaves are welcome to some and not appreciated by others! Regardless of your take on the change of seasons, we hope you are doing well.
We had a very good fall with several successful fundraisers and outdoor gatherings such as the Avon Cruise-in. We very much appreciate the businesses and individuals who have been so loyal with their support even while we are grounded. We are hoping for an uninterrupted flight season in 2022 and the
monies raised will be put to very good use. As most of you know, we are 100% donation funded, we do not receive any government assistance. The majority of our funds comes from individuals just like you, who support us because they see the value of our service to our Hoosier heroes. Our 100% unpaid volunteer staff work diligently to address all aspects of our mission. We believe in what we do and work hard to keep our expenses to a minimum. We have no office; we work from our kitchen tables. Our equipment is stored in donated space at a local business. We believe every dollar possible should go to making our events as enjoyable for those who have served our country.
Today’s world seems so disjointed, and we see so much drama from various sides. We are in no way a political organization. We are dedicated to honoring men and women who served during wartime in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. That is our purpose, and we hope you join us in avoiding the politics of the
day to stay focused on our mission.
As we have shared before, we look forward to sharing the story of Indy Honor Flight and have recently visited several recent groups to do just that. If you know of a group who would like to host one of us to come and share, please send us an email: Info@indyhonorflight.org or call us at 317-559-1600.
The other favor I will request is for everyone to keep your information with us up-to-date. Whether a change of address, phone number or, sadly, a death, it is very important for us to have current information. We currently have over 1100 Veterans on our waiting list and have flown over 2700. We also have over 400 registered Volunteers. All of these fine folks are kept in a secure database so we can contact them when needed for an event or, hopefully soon, a flight. Please use the contact information above to keep us current. As a reminder, our website is available 24/7 and you can access our applications, FAQ page or donate securely there: WWW.IndyHonorFlight.org
Yes, we are actively seeking any eligible Veteran to apply, our mission has been paused, not stopped. Please reach out to those you know who have served and encourage them to apply. We love our Veterans!
Here is to looking forward to a better 2022! Please stay safe and healthy.

Click on the “click here to find a vaccination site and register” and it will show you the entire state of locations. Click on the locations closest to you. If you do not have a computer, call 211 from any phone and someone will be able to assist you. Please remember, the vaccine requires two doses and you do not have the best level of protection until two (2) weeks after your second dose. Indy Honor Flights’ medics and medical associates are strongly recommending our most at risk folks get the vaccine as soon as possible!

S’more, S’more and S’more!
It’s fall and that means hoodies, falling leaves, bonfires and S’mores! We asked some of our volunteers what they like with their S’mores and here is what they said:
Jeanne H – Graham crackers, Nutella, marshmallow and peanut butter
Jennifer H – Graham crackers, burnt marshmallow and chocolate
Stephanie G. – Fudge round cookies and marshmallows
Karen and Wayne S – with a grandchild or two or ten and they like theirs with graham crackers, chocolate on their faces and marshmallows
Maria L – Fudge Stripped cookies and marshmallows.
Angela B – Fudge covered graham cracker cookies and marshmallows.
Amy P – Graham cracker, peeps and Hersey’s chocolate. Roasted peeps are amazing…but so rich I can eat one a year!
Kelly H – Graham crackers warmed by the fire, slightly burnt marshmallow, peanut butter and chocolate. Yum!
Dale T – The normal way. Graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows.
Alisha N – Substitute a reece’s cup for the hershey bar!!
Leesa N – Graham cracker, Hershey bar, and toasted marshmallows.
We think they are all good recipes and best served around a fire with friends and family reminiscing about good times and loved ones! We hope you all find some time to enjoy a S’more or two around a bonfire this fall!
