Chairman’s Corner
Candy time! Here we are, almost to Halloween and it is hard to believe we will be gathering for Thanksgiving soon. So many things have happened during the last few months, some good, some not good. Here at Indy Honor Flight we prefer to stay positive and we are so grateful for all of you-whether you are a Veteran or a volunteer. It is our honor to know and serve with so many wonderful people. Our group has continued to do as much as we safely can and we want to remind everyone while we are still unable to do the normal activities, we are watching the news and circumstances carefully. Our aircraft are reserved, we are keeping our fingers crossed and we are hoping to be able to fly again soon!
As we mentioned in the last newsletter, we started our own YouTube video channel and posted our first video-have you seen it? If not, please follow this link to find our channel: Indy Honor Flight YouTube Channel
But wait, there’s more! Just last week we have posted our first videos created by a Physical Therapy student! Why, you ask? These videos, the beginning of a series, will help our Veterans stay limber and strong as they either wait to fly or are waiting to begin attending our monthly activities. These videos demonstrate simple, but effect exercises that almost anyone can do and do not require any special equipment. All of the content we post is free, just like our Honor Flights!
These videos will stay on the channel so Veterans and family members can visit anytime to continue to learn, build better balance and strength. We will be releasing more of these videos in the weeks to come. Subscribe to the channel and watch for more to come soon!
We also send out information on our Face Book page and on Instagram: Indy Honor Flight. Please watch these sources for updates and information, this is our best way to quickly let folks know what we are up to. We also share occasional historical events of interest and other positive stories.
A reminder to all-our staff is a small group of unpaid volunteers and while we do our best to stay up to date, it really helps us if you can notify us of address changes, changes to phone numbers, or, unfortunately, when one of our alumni or a Veteran on our waiting list passes. Just drop us a note at Info@indyhonorflight.org of give us a call at 317-559-1600 so we can keep our records accurate. We really appreciate it.
Now, please stay healthy and safe-take care of each other and always take the time to recognize any Veteran you see with a “thank you” and a “welcome home”. These simple words can make a bad day better and a good day fantastic. We love and respect the service of our heroes, never think we are finished, we are just waiting! See you “on the curb”!
